Journey of a startup: Day 66

Woke up and saw a post on LinkedIn from an old colleague so I reached out to him and we have a call scheduled for later this week. This is going to be my first feedback session with a VC partner. I am not pitch-ready but I did want to catch up with him, congratulate him on his ongoing success, and get some along awaited feedback. I have barely hired market researchers, and my app is probably going to become its own market, so I don’t have all stats together yet. I am missing key elements that I am just going to have to leave out of the deck and if he says something about it, then it will confirm my thoughts.

I would typically be all nervous about this. I don’t know when I became that way but I am not nervous. I’m not trying to sell someone’s bullshit anymore. This is something I genuinely believe in and people just get it, which leaves time remaining for Q and A. I am trying to stay focused because it turns out there are many use cases for this app. That’s a good thing I will leverage later.

Overall, I feel extremely excited. Tasks have owners other than me, in progress, and should turn around in a day or 2.

Fast -> Quality -> Cost

That’s the secret formula right now. Interpret how you want, and it might just work for you too.

I have been working with global freelancers around the world, so I can have things brewing around the clock to maximize all 24 hours in a day. I also get to learn about other cultures while working with talented people who are monetizing their niche. But here’s the real advantage. You get an expert for each task. Related tasks might be done by the same person, but in my case, it was advantageous to hire someone to find my competitors, and then hire someone else to provide the research I need within my aggressive schedule. My freelancers have been working remotely for a long time. They know the drill.

With all that’s going on, I am looking forward to tomorrow.
